Postcards from the edge!

Design and Printing of Creative Marketing MaterialsThe postcard dates back to 1840 and has long been used as printed marketing material for holidays, as a souvenir or as a promotional tool in direct marketing campaigns. Nowadays not many people send postcards through the post, but there’s more to postcards than meets the eye and it’s fighting back as an invaluable printed marketing tool!

Creative Print for B2B Businesses

Many of our B2B customers are using postcards to promote their products and services and using them in innovative and creative ways. Fashion Retailers have developed them as collectable cards for seasonal collections with discount details on the back. Restaurants have used them to promote recipe’s. We have produced postcards with magnetic backs and have added value by printing QR codes which link the card to online services through use of a smartphone reader app.

With short runs available the possibilities offer huge potential for creative printed material. Remember just like social media, the humble postcard is open for everyone to see and so communicates with everyone it comes into contact with.

Shake up your Transactional print!

Business Stationery PrintingEvery day, week or month, millions of statements, invoices and cheques are printed throughout the world. Recent studies have shown that, on average, a consumer will spend forty two and a half seconds reviewing a bill. That’s forty two and a half seconds you’ve got to grab a client’s attention.

Enter ‘Transactional Printing’! For 30-40 years invoices and statements have retained their general appearance; black print, columns of numbers and a bill at the bottom. Besides having minor changes in layout, transactional documents have never undergone any dramatic changes.

Typically, documents of any kind have a lot of unused white space, and in recent times businesses are seeing the potential of using this space to include promotional advertising. Marketing departments nationwide are now encouraging the use of ‘Whitespace’ as a valuable tool for self-promotion.

Here at Spot On we’ve been at the forefront of advising our print customers to develop and produce their marketing messages on their transactional printed materials from bills, statements and invoices to payslips, supporting documents and salary slips.

Contact Spot On Design and Print right now if you would like to know more about developing and printing marketing messages for your transactional printed materials.

QR Cow-des (codes)!

What a creative way of using QR Codes as seen recently in Print Week! Spot On Print Shop don’t normally print on animals but we do recommend the use of QR codes on your printed sales and marketing materials. QR codes are originally from Japan where they have been use for over 10 years.

What are QR Codes?QR Codes in Printing

Quick Response codes (QR codes) are similar to the barcodes used by retailers to track inventory and price products at the point of sale. The key difference between the two is the amount of data they can hold or share. Their ability to hold more information and their ease of use makes them practical for small businesses printed materials

QR Codes and Smartphones

When you scan or read a QR code with your iPhone, Android or other camera-enabled Smartphone, you can link to digital content on the web; activate a number of phone functions including email, IM and SMS; and connect the mobile device to a web browser.

QR Codes on Printed Materials

We advise our customers to use them on a variety of their printed materials from leaflets, stationary and brochuresto posters, large format printing and banners.  The ability of QR codes to connect people with each other and to multimedia digital content is very useful for businesses and consumers alike. Contact us if you would like to know more about developing and printing QR Codes for your sales and marketing materials.

Size Matters!

While many sectors in print have, in recent years, been stuck in the doldrums, others, such as packaging and large-format, seem to have remained immune to the recession.  Smaller print companies such as our own dominate in what is regarded as a profitable market sector. Signs, banners and POS remain staples of SME-led sector. We know ourselves that our business in this sector has improved by 50%.

Many printers that offer a mixture of large-format and other forms of large printed materials such as outdoor banners and pull up exhibition stands, say that wide-format was their most profitable offering. And if that’s not a good reason to get excited about large-format, I don’t know what is!

Commercial printers look to add large format printing as a bolt-on service to broaden their market, or show what’s possible with the latest kit or substrates. Marketers are also very positive over the latest applications. The development of fabrics as a material for use on exhibition stands is proving increasingly popular and vehicle wrapping is a visually striking and innovative implementation. Contact us for further information on large-format printing.

Retail Print Buyers are Happy Shoppers!

In this time of recession, the retail sector  may seem to be struggling with shops closing down on the high street. But many local and independent retailers are flourishing and print is helping many companies to buck the trend.

This is of course happening for many different reasons, but we at Spot On Print Shop know that print is helping. Much of the smaller run work is now catered for by digital printing. A wide variety of printed material from in store signage, product labels, bags, gift tags, and wrap to posters, leaflets, brochures and newsletters, are being produced with the local retailer’s independent flair and creativity and our high quality print services. A quick print turnaround and service flexibility is needed as well as good prices!

And we don’t stop there! Quality printers like Spot On Print Shop are also offering extra benefits which are important to retailers such as Colour Accuracy, Large Format printing and printing on 100% recycled stock which meets their ethical and environmental standards.

Print works hand in hand with retail and if ‘retail is detail’  then the print services that we and many other printers offer, will continue to be of importance in offering information and helping to create a dialogue with consumers
